Robert John Bonaventura, age 73, passed away in peace at his home in Houston, Texas on January 3, 2018. He was born in Silverton, Colorado on February 23, 1944 to Nicholas and Sylvia Bonaventura. Robert was the third of four children and followed his two older brothers to join them in the Navy in 1963. While stationed in Corpus Christi he met a beautiful young lady named Brenda Joy Roe. Robert and Brenda married on May 27, 1966 and after he completed his military service in 1967 they moved to Colorado to be close to his family. Robert attended AMP school and returned to Texas to begin his career with Texas International and stayed with the company through several merges, where he retired from Continental Airlines as the Senior Director of Quality Control. Together, Robert and Brenda had 4 children. Robert and Brenda lived for their children and grandchildren.
Robert's hobbies were hunting, fishing, working on his boat and cars and he especially loved collecting coins. He enjoyed watching his grandchildren play their sports and encouraged them to love life. Robert and Brenda enjoyed traveling and spending time with their family.
Robert was preceded in death by his Father Nicholas, Mother Sylvia Bonaventura, and his daughter Elaina Maria Bonaventura. He is survived by his beloved wife of 51 years, Brenda Joy; sons, Steven & Richard; daughter Kimberly; daughter in laws, Rebecca & Staci; Son in law, Timothy; 10 grandchildren, Michael, Elaina, Matthew, Riley, James, Jonathan, Emily, Bailey, Noah & Brayden; brothers Richard & James; sister Nikki Sue.
Visitation will be held on January 8, 2018 from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Klein Funeral Home, 16131 Champion Forest Dr. Spring, TX 77379.
A funeral services will be held on January 9, 2018 at John Wesley United Methodist Church, 95830 Bermuda Dunes Dr. Houston, Tx 77069 at 11:00 am.
