Robert Franklin "Bob" Jones of Houston, Texas, passed away peacefully at age 89 on February 15, 2023 with loved ones by his side.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Ellen Jones, and their two children, Rob and wife Edra, and Carolyn and husband, Breff.

Bob was born on May 19, 1933 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to Watkin Franklin Jones and Mary McCarty.

Bob grew up in Philadelphia and married the love of his life, Ellen, in 1961. They began their life in Philadelphia, where Bob worked for Gulf Oil until they were transferred to Pittsburgh, where their son, Rob, was born. After five years, the family was transferred to Houston with Gulf Oil. Their second child, Carolyn, was born in Houston. Bob continued to work for Gulf Oil until they were acquired by Chevron. He continued his CPA career until he retired, where he enjoyed spending time gardening, volunteering, exercising, traveling, and reading.

Bob enjoyed volunteering at the Houston Zoo and was a docent for over 30 years, guiding adults and children throughout the many exhibits. He worked on the board of the Homeowner's Association as head of security for six years. Bob was an exercise enthusiast, loved his daily walks and training sessions, loved his Philadelphia Eagles, Houston Astros, and most sporting events.

At the end of each day, Bob loved a good gin martini and spending quality time with his beloved cat, Lilly. We will miss his sense of humor, his pack rat tendencies, and the overall love and support he showed us each and every day. He was a model husband and father whose legacy will live on in his children and in the life he lived.

Bob is predeceased by his parents, Mary and Watkin Jones and sister, Merle deMonterice.

A celebration of life will be on March 10th at 11:00 am at Northwoods Presbyterian Church, 3320 FM 1960 West, Houston, Texas 77068.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Houston Zoo or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
