Robert Michael Aus passed away peacefully at home on April 25, 2022.
Bob was born on September 9, 1939 in Baltimore, Maryland. He grew up in the Fort Howard
area, in a family of eleven children. Bob graduated from Sparrows Point High School and then
worked his way through the University of Maryland. While at Maryland he had the chance to be
an usher at the inauguration of President John F. Kennedy. Later he also graduated from the
University of Baltimore Law School.
He had a long and varied business career, working at times in the steel industry, bartering, and
commercial real estate. After retiring to Houston, he started a new career as a manufacturing
entrepreneur.
Bob often traveled internationally for work and retained a life-long love of global travel, regularly
taking cruises around the world for many years. He was an avid reader and solved the New
York Times crossword puzzle nearly every day. Every night he watched The Wheel of Fortune,
usually while sipping a Manahattan. Despite numerous health setbacks in recent years, Bob
maintained his zest for life to the very end. Finally, Bob will be remembered for his seemingly
endless supply of "dad jokes."
Always mindful of his humble roots, Bob had immense compassion for others, especially those
in need. He donated generously to various charitable causes.
He is survived by sons Robert Jr., David, and Frederick; grandchildren Andrew and Katherine;
brother Frederick and sisters Mary Healy, Frances Yates, Pat Helphenstein, and Susan Collins.
