RITA ELLEN MCKINNEY

Born October 1, 1956 in York, Pennsylvania

Passed away March 31, 2021 in Cypress, Texas

Rita began her early educational studies at the York Hospital School of Nursing in York, Pa. She received both of her MBA's from the University of Phoenix in Business Administration and Nursing Healthcare Management. Rita has been in the Healthcare field for over 35 years. Her most recent position held was the Director of Med Surg with HCA West Houston Medical Center. She served on the Nurse Executive Council, the PPE Taskforce, HCA Zero Harm Council, and numerous other committees throughout her career. For the duration of her career Rita helped, taught, and mentored others. She had a passion and a heart to serve in her community, both personally and professionally. Rita actively participated in Habitat for Humanity projects where she helped with home construction for families in need of assistance, volunteered with and donated to the Star of Hope and Houston Foodbank, and was an active volunteer with the Susan G Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. Rita's heart to serve and passion to help others showed in her everyday life and left such a positive and meaningful impact with so many people along the way. Rita's family and friends were the pride and joy of her life. The legacy of Rita's kind spirit, passion, and love will live through all of us.
