Obituary

Rick E. Ogden, 74, of Cypress, TX, passed away on August 2, 2023.

Rick was born on Saturday, August 21, 1948 to Earl and Eunice Ogden in Houston, TX. He attended Sam Houston High School where he earned his diploma with honors. Rick was a veteran of the United States Army and served during the Vietnam War. Rick was also a dean's list graduate of Houston Baptist University, earning a double-major Bachelor's Degree.

Alongside his loving wife Charlotte, Rick touched countless lives at Memorial Baptist Church. His ministry there spanned well over 45 years and reached people of all ages. He devoted his life to serving God, both within the church walls and all throughout his community. Rick particularly loved his ministry in music, was gifted with a beautiful voice which he often shared in song and he cherished the opportunities that enabled him to be a mentor to countless young minds. His death has left such vacancies in so many places, but in time, the life of ministry and service for God's purposes that Rick led will fill those vacancies with his powerful legacy.

He was preceded in death by his youngest sister, Polly Proffer; his mother, Eunice Ogden; his son-in-law Dan Keeney; and father Earl Ogden.

Rick is survived by his loving wife, Charlotte C. Ogden, of over 50 years (to whom he affectionately referred to as his 'bride' for the entirety of their married life together); sister Sharon Johnson; sister Patricia Towery; daughter Lana Keeney; daughter Charmane Tozier; son John Welch II and loving wife Rita; son Timothy Ogden; grand-daughter Candice Blakeley and loving husband Dane.

Surviving grandchildren also include Caleb Mendez, Paige Welch, Ashlyn Tozier, Matthew Tozier, Blake Welch, Brandon Keeney and Zane Welch.

Surviving great-grandchildren include Gavin S. McCorkle, Kaden Thai, Kason Thai, Van Blakeley, Dane Meuer and Dax Meuer.

Rick is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins who loved and respected him.
