Obituary

Richard Patrick Yerkes passed away peacefully on May 25 th , 2022, at the age of 68, after a hard-fought battle with cancer. He fought every day to preserve the unknown amount of time he had to be with the people he loved most.

Rick was born in Camp Lejeune, North Carolina on May 29th, 1953, to Bob and Marge Yerkes. Being a part of a military family, his childhood was spent living both stateside and abroad. After finishing school at the University of Texas in Austin, he married Becky Randolph in 1976 and together they raised three children: Christopher, Christina, and Chase. He began his career with Bechtel in 1977. After a successful 41 years, an achievement he was proud of, he happily retired in 2018.

Family was always at the center of the things he loved. Whether it be spending time in Galveston at the family beach house all together or buying balloons on Main Street U.S.A. in Disney World for all his grandchildren. He devoted his life to his family and loved to watch and support them in all their many endeavors. He taught them that no matter what, you show up. Even though he wasn't a man of many words, this was a legacy he taught through his living example with unconditional love, support, and lots of advice.

Rick refused to give up and fought with the same strength and determination he poured into his family until the very end. He was driven, brave, loyal, and unapologetically passionate about the people he loved and will forever be missed more than words can express. His love for family, drive to bring out the best in each of his children, quest to keep them kids as long as he could, and for them to experience all the joys that life had to offer is his legacy that will live on through each of them.

Rick is survived by his wife Becky and their children Christopher Yerkes, Christina Stout, and Chase Yerkes; as well as their spouses and the grandchildren (Courtney Yerkes; Logan and Paige, Adam Stout; Addison and Sydnie, Carie Yerkes; Braden and Kennedy), and his brother, Bob Yerkes and wife Susan.
