Richard "Dick" Stevens
January 14, 1932 to June 30, 2017
Dick was born in Rochester, Minnesota, and grew up there. He met Marilyn while in high school. They were married on September 5, 1953, and had three children. They lived in Minnesota, Maryland, Oregon, Nevada, and got to Texas as quickly as they could.
Dick and Marilyn loved RVing and international travel. Dick traveled to 39 countries with Marilyn joining him to many of them. They were the first Americans to visit parts of China after the U.S. resumed a relationship with them in the 1970s. They RVed together for 28 years and traveled from Alaska to Nova Scotia. An RV trip could last anywhere from a week to five months.
Dick also enjoyed photography with many of his works hanging in family homes. He was an avid sailor and earlier in life you could often find him on his boat enjoying the Gulf of Mexico. Camping was also a way the family enjoyed time together as the children grew up.
He never missed an opportunity to go fishing and loved spending time with family on the water. Whether it was in a boat fishing for crappy or in a stream fishing for trout, Dick was always happy when he had a rod and reel in his hand.
Dick had a ready smile, a twinkle in his eye, and loved telling stories. He enjoyed strong friendships with many lifelong friends. He had a solid shoulder to lean on, a keen perspective, and a word or two of advice when asked.   His family and friends feel blessed to have lived with the guidance of such a gentle giant.
Dick is survived by his wife, Marilyn Stevens; son, Rick Stevens and wife Nelwyn; daughter, Sandi Stevens; daughter, Susan Gard and husband Pat; grandsons, Rick Stevens, Robbie Stevens, Ryan Stevens, Sean Gard and Quinn Gard; and granddaughters, Reagan Gard and Rachel Resch as well as many other loved family members.
