Richard Jerry Murphy, of Houston, Texas, was born on February 28, 1944, and gained his heavenly wings on April 15, 2020.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Richard C. Murphy and Mildred "Louise" Murphy and brother Fred Murphy.

Jerry proudly served in the United States Navy during Vietnam.  Upon his return to the States he worked at Houston Lighting and Power for several years before starting his 33-year career with Southwestern Bell Telephone Company. Upon retirement he joined the Cy Fair ISD team as a School Bus Driver, where he spent 5 years.  He had been fully retired for more than 10 years, and enjoyed traveling, visiting relatives, and spending time at the lake house.

Richard is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Phyllis Murphy; his children, Steven Murphy and Diane Murphy; grandchildren, Tyler Murphy, Brandon Murphy, Dustin Murphy, Cody Layne, Andrew Layne, and Madison Layne; and siblings, Michael Murphy and wife Lavada, Jim Murphy and wife Josie, and Patricia Lilly and husband Mike, and Dorothy Murphy; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A full memorial service will be announced once social restrictions have been eased.
