Richard Leigh Horridge, 76, passed from this life on Sunday, November 19, 2023 in Houston, TX. He was born November 15, 1947 in Dallas, TX to Don and Dorine Horridge.

Richard grew up in the Willowbend subdivision of Houston. He graduated from Westbury high school in 1965. At age 18 he took a motorcycle trip across Europe which kindled a love of architecture and art. He later earned his bachelor's degree in architecture from Texas Tech University. While at Texas Tech Richard participated in the Saddle Tramp spirit organization.

Richard worked for the City of Houston Planning department where he was instrumental in the design and construction of Intercontinental Airport. He was also an accomplished artist which inspired him to open an art gallery in the Village and in the Dakota lofts where he promoted his paintings along with art from other local artists. After retiring from the City of Houston, he and June built and operated a bed and breakfast in Gruene, Texas. He later returned to Houston and worked for Baker Hughes Inc. where he used his architecture and construction experience as the manager of facilities worldwide. He retired in 2015.

He had a passion for painting (often images of angels), reading (Stephen King books especially), architecture, drawing comic strips and spending time with his family. Richard always believed in living life to the fullest and very openly expressing his ideas and views.

Richard was a loving husband and father who always put his family first. He has two sons from his first marriage, Chris and Drew. He then married his current wife June, where he became a father to another son Jeff and daughter Jennifer. He is also survived by his older brother Mike, grandchildren Mila, Alex and Philip and great grandson Oliver.

He was a wonderful father, husband, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, and friend.

He will be missed.

He is preceded in death by his parents Don and Dorine Horridge.

A Celebration of life will be held Saturday, December 2, 2023 at 2:00 pm at Klein Funeral Home-Champions.
