Obituary

Richard Lee Govan was born in California.   His passion in life was Race Car Driving and was so successful that he has been inducted into the Sprint Race Car Hall of Fame in California. Rich is survived by his wife and best friend Jeannie Govan and had 6 children, Rick Govan, Ronnie Govan, Ryan Govan, Rochelle Govan, Cynthia Polk and his biggest blessing Kenneth Hilliard.   He was very blessed to be able to have a fulfilling life with his 11 grand children Trish Fleming and Husband Steve Fleming, Carla Powell and Husband Brandon, Troy Morvant and Wife Linda, Kyle Poarch, Trisha Castro and Husband Ernesto, Ricky Govan III, Melissa Govan, Daniel Govan, Jessie Govan, Ronnie Corbin,  and Daniel Corbin.  Rich was also in love with his 25 great grand children.  He spent countless hours supporting the kids at local football games, dance recitals, music events, and any other thing they wanted their great grand father to attend.  His great grand daughter Jaide Fleming was in an automobile accident one year ago and he spent every single day of the 21 days she was there visiting her and assisting her in getting better.

Because of his beloved son Kenneth, Rich had a passion for the handicapped kids in our community. He also spent countless hours volunteering his time in working on special events as well as benefits to help raise money and gain awareness to these very special people .

Richard also had a great passion for his friends.  He was known to all as a man of little words but when he did speak it was always insightful or extremely humorous.   Every Friday night for the past 7 years you could find Rich and Jeannie at their reserved seat at Clementines Restaurant.  Elias Deeks, the owner of Clementines, always made sure Rich and Jeannie had their favorite drinks and food available along with entertainment from Rich's favorite entertainers, Ray Pate and Bruce Jagar.  The lifelong friends they have made at Clementines have been with Rich and Jeannie through this entire process and they consider all of them family.
