Richard Edward Alexander Escott, of Houston, Texas, was born on September 13, 1939, in Shreveport, Louisiana. He entered eternal rest on December 3, 2021 in Houston, Texas with his family surrounding him.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Florence Nasser Escott, his brother, Arthur Michael Escott, and Richard's late wife, Angelina Valerie Cosumano Escott.

Richard is survived by his loving wife, Jeri Jean Escott; his daughters, Cynthia Ann Syler and husband Terry, Karen Elizabeth Kuhlmann and husband Tim; his sons, Michael Escott and husband Dr. Gabriel Isaza, and Dr. Mark Escott and wife Charity; grandchildren, Angelina Syler, Adelaide Escott, Caroline Syler, and Andrew Escott; and siblings, Joseph Escott, Anita Fekany, and Rose Plumb and her husband Jim. He is also survived by a large extended family of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Richard graduated from Northwestern State University where he was a member of the Sigma Tau Gamma Fraternity. Richard served his country as a missile defense officer in the United States Army. Notably during his service, Richard was called to defend his country, deploying his missile defense battery to Florida during the Cuban Missile Crisis.

Following his service in the Army, Richard enjoyed a career in the banking and financial industries as well as being a computer specialist and business owner. He loved computers and technology and was always wanting to learn the latest and greatest and was on the development team for one of the early Automated Teller Machines in Houston. Richard was an elected Commissioner and Vice President of the Harris County Emergency Services District 29 from 2008 until his passing. During his tenure, the team oversaw the building of two new fire stations and substantial increase in the fire service for the community.

Richard was a man who loved his family and friends without exception and enjoyed spending as much time with them as possible. He loved being a grandfather, playing cards with his friends, and helping his children with home improvement projects.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Legion of St. Michael where Richard served on the Board of Directors. The Legion of St. Michael is a 501(c)3 nonprofit tax-deductible organization that was established to support the protection of First Responders through the procurement of items such as IFAKs (Individual First Aid Kits) and ballistic vests as well as support for First Responder therapy dogs.
