Regina (Jeanne) Bernat Callaghan passed away November 22, 2021 at her home in Spring, Texas.  She was born April 16, 1927 in Blakely, Pennsylvania to John Bernat and Anna Mihalko. She had two brothers, John and Joseph, who preceded her in death.

She was raised in a coal mining town outside Scranton, PA.  There she developed great discipline, tremendous will power and an abiding Catholic faith.

She had a brilliant intellect, graduating high school as valedictorian and receiving a Bachelor of Science degree with honors from Marywood College in Scranton, Pennsylvania.  Upon graduation she entered the Army and became a physical therapist.

It was in the Army that she met her soul mate for life, her husband Don, who predeceased her.  She was always adventurous as they moved worldwide from assignment to assignment – Brazil, Germany, Korea, and throughout the United States.  She enjoyed the challenge of raising her children in that environment as well as the camaraderie of the military culture and community.

After raising a successful family, she carried on her passion for volunteering and participating in all of life.  She loved conversation and a good story, and was always an astute listener to family and friends alike.  These skills served her well as she made new friends wherever each new Army assignment took her and her family.  An active member of every church she attended, she was always caring about and for others in need.

Although gone from the world her life will always live on in the memories of 3 generations of her family and numerous friends.

She is survived by her daughter Pat (Bob) Nossov, her son John (Kim) Callaghan, and her son Tom (Diana) Callaghan, as well as her grandchildren Kristin (husband Thang and children Cameron, Caleb, and Zachary), Kevin (son Kaden), Patrick (wife Valerie and children Axel, Everest, and Sonny), Kathleen (husband Anthony), and Katie.
