Rebecca "Becky" Rae Smith, 75, a long-time resident of Houston, TX, went home to be with the Lord on May 17, 2023. Becky was born in Tulsa, OK on August 15, 1947 to Ralph Gobble and Betty Rose (Bright) Gobble.   She was a big sister to her brother, Chuck, and was involved in a variety of activities as a child including Girl Scouts, Rainbow Girls, Pep Club, and Youth Group at her church.  She also enjoyed playing the piano and the violin.  Her family moved to Sand Springs when she was in high school.  After graduating from Charles Page High School in 1965, Becky attended Oklahoma State University for two years where she met her husband, Ray Smith, before obtaining a degree from Hughes Beauty Academy in Tulsa.  The couple married on August 30, 1969.  The newlyweds moved to Fort Benning in Georgia while Ray was in school learning to be a scout dog handler after being drafted in the U.S. Army. While Ray served in Vietnam, Becky moved back to Sand Springs and worked as a beautician.

Due to her husband's career with Exxon Pipeline Company, the family lived in several locations over the years including Houston, Corpus Christi, and Atlanta. Becky saw each move as a new adventure and made many lifelong friends with each transfer.

She retired from CFISD food service after 17 years; however, her role as a wife, mother, homemaker, and grandmother was her favorite.  She was selfless and devoted herself to taking care of her family.  Family meant everything to Becky. She loved spoiling her four grandchildren and was their greatest cheerleader.

Becky was fun-loving with a zest for life.  Her smile would light up a room and she was always the life of the party.  She was the ultimate soccer mom, a scout leader for both her children, and served on the neighborhood swim and tennis board and high school band booster club. She was a friend to all and in her later years enjoyed socializing with her friends from the YMCA and helping with her church's annual garage sale.  Always one of the first and one of the last on the dance floor, Becky loved to dance. She was a member of the Hey Lollies Square Dance Club for 25 years and took many trips with the group around Texas and Colorado.

Becky's positive attitude and kind, servant heart was rooted by her deep faith in Jesus Christ.  For the last 11 years, she was involved in the Northwest Houston Chapter of Community Bible Study (CBS).  The weekly Bible Study helped strengthen her knowledge and grow her faith.  She trusted in God's will and promise and looked forward to the inheritance she would receive as a child of God.  Becky's passing has left an empty spot in our hearts, but we have peace and comfort knowing that she has eternal life.

Becky is survived by her husband of 53 years, Ray Smith; her daughter,
Sara and husband, Giles Eastwood of Cypress, TX; her son, Jeff Smith and wife, Haydee of Jacksonville, FL; her grandchildren, Nick, Ellie, Andrew, and Maggie; her brother-in-law, Harold Smith; and many nieces and nephews.

Becky is preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Charles "Chuck" Gobble.
