Rebecca Barrios Quesada
1935-2017
Rebecca was born in Eagle Lake Texas and moved with her mother, brother and three sisters to Houston TX when she was two years old. She met Jimmy Martinez Quesada when they attended Jeff Davis High school, and married him soon after. She worked most of her life as a Fabric Store Manager, which she loved, as she was a very accomplished seamstress. She and her husband worked hard to move her family out of the inner city of Houston in 1971, into the suburbs, which was at the time, a very rural 1960 area. She retired in 1985 and enjoyed working on their property (often seen standing on the roof blowing off leaves until her late 70's), sewing for her granddaughters, and taking bus trips to Coushatta! She was blessed to be a part of her grandchildren's lives, passing on her love of sewing and teaching them the art of making tamales.
She was happy to be able to see her great grandchildren as well. After 53 years of marriage, she was widowed and was then blessed to find a faithful companion, Henry Herrada Sr, a friend from high school. They enjoyed just a few brief years together before she suffered a devastating stroke. For four years, she resided with and was cared for by her loving Park Manor Tomball family, with Henry most often by her side. Her family and friends will always remember her wonderful smile, her strong spirit and generous heart. She joins her husband Jimmy and her granddaughter Lisa Marie Quesada in a heavenly reunion. She leaves behind her sons and daughter,
7 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren to miss her deeply.
