Rebecca Leone Leslie was born March 4,1949, to Ed and Rachel Webb in Marshfield, Missouri. She attended Marshfield Elementary and Jr. High schools, graduating from high school in 1967. She excelled in academics and music and was elected to the National Honor Society her junior year.
While in high school, she met the love of her life, Richard Leslie. They married August 18, 1968. They both graduated from Southwest Missouri State College as Music Educators. Their first call was from Trinity Lutheran Church in Springfield, Missouri, where Rebecca served as director of the various choirs and Richard as organist and youth director.
Rebecca and Richard were blessed with three children: Christopher, Anna, and Brian as they served in congregations in Missouri, Michigan, Illinois, and Texas. Rebecca served as a teaching assistant and pre-school director as well as children music educator in various Lutheran schools.
Rebecca was a joy filled witness to the love of God through Jesus Christ. She loved to talk and could start a conversation with anyone.
She will be greatly missed by her surviving family: her husband Richard Leslie; her children: Christopher Leslie and wife Jodie from Friendswood, Texas, Anna and husband Trey Gillette from Tom's River, New Jersey, and Brian Leslie and wife Stephanie from Austin, Texas; her grandchildren Eric Gillette and wife Abby from Princeton Theological Seminary, New Jersey, Jeffery Gillette from Tom's River, N.J., Peter Gillette and fiancé Katey Ritchie from Tom's River, N.J., Maddison Pack and husband Jake from Pearland, Texas, Pax Leslie and fiancé Amy Del Bello from College Station, Texas, Grace Leslie from Austin, Texas; and great-grandson Jackson Boone Gillete from Princeton, New Jersey.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Leanna Guggenmos.
Friends are invited to a celebration of Rebecca's life and faith at 11 a.m. Monday, May 19, at St. Timothy Lutheran Church, 14225 Hargrave Rd., Houston, TX 77070.
