Rebecca Ann Anderson died on August 17, 2022, of complications from Multiple Myeloma. Her husband, son, and daughter were by her side.

Ann was born in Brewton, AL on January 7, 1944. She moved around a lot as a child so she learned to make friends quickly and would start a conversation with just about anybody. In her freshman year at Lamar University in Beaumont, TX, she met Bryan Anderson. He asked her out several times before she said Yes, and their first date was on December 12, 1962. They were married on September 3, 1965.

The couple moved to San Diego, CA when Bryan enlisted in the US Navy. This move away from family made them more independent and self-reliant. They loved living in California, taking road trips and exploring whenever they could. Shortly after leaving the Navy, their daughter, Adrienne, was born and they moved back to Texas so Bryan could attend graduate school. The family moved to Houston in 1971 and their son, Darrell, was born in 1973.

Ann became active in school activities and neighborhood happenings when the family moved to Prestonwood Forest, ensuring Adrienne and Darrell experienced a charmed childhood. She was extremely involved with their school activities and sports, never missing an event and joining all of the parent committees that were available. When Adrienne and Darrell went to Texas A&M, Ann jumped into being an Aggie Mom, even serving as President of the Northwest Houston chapter in 1993-1994.

She joined Compaq as a contractor in 1989 and quickly became a full-time employee. She worked in many areas of the company at Compaq and then Hewlett-Packard, eventually retiring in 2005 as a program manager. Throughout her tenure she made many friends with whom she maintained contact even after her retirement.

Ann had 5 grandchildren and threw herself into the role of Grandma. She was constantly sewing and shopping for them. She loved going to Pearland and Austin to attend their events and programs.

Ann had many interests and hobbies. She and Bryan started traveling extensively when their children started college and became avid cruisers. In 20 years they took over 15 cruises together. While she learned to sew at a young age and enjoyed making clothes for her family, she became consumed by quilting about 25 years ago. Each grandchild was welcomed with a beautiful quilt, and she continued to make quilts for her family "just because." As the years passed it became more difficult to complete the quilts but she would persist, no matter how long it took.

In 2011 Ann was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma, a blood cancer. She approached this disease with tenacity and fought it relentlessly. Over time she had infusion treatments, a stem cell transplant, countless pills, and radiation. The treatments weakened her but she was determined to be there for her grandchildren. She was stoic when facing pain and would say Yes to any opportunity to see her grandchildren, no matter how fatigued she was. In the end, the Myeloma won out, and she has passed from our lives.

Ann is preceded in death by her parents Leo and Reba Parish and sister Linda Lorusso. She is survived by her husband, Bryan; their daughter Adrienne Anderson and husband Greg Graml; their son Darrell Anderson and wife Anna Anderson; and grandchildren Sara Anderson, Owen Anderson, Rachel Anderson, Caroline Graml, and Henry Graml.

Memorial Service on September 7 at 11:00 am at Lakewood United Methodist Church, 11330 Louetta Road, Houston, TX 77070, with a reception immediately following at the church. A private interment will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in her honor to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
