Raymond Edward Leber, 81, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 12, 2022, at Brookdale Willowbrook Place Assisted Living Community. Ray was born on May 14, 1941, to Raymond Joseph & Jeanette Frances Leber, in St. Louis, MO. He was the second oldest of four children.
In his early childhood, Ray fell victim to the polio epidemic. After suffering through multiple surgeries & treatments, Ray was eventually able to regain the use of his legs. Throughout his life, he remained determined to not let his experience with polio keep him from pursuing what he enjoyed.
Ray graduated from Webster Groves High School & went on to earn a Bachelor of Science in Math at Washington University in 1968. He went to work for a number of engineering companies over his lifetime as a cost & scheduling engineer. After joining Toastmasters, Ray used the skills he learned to not only further his career, but to also lead public speaking courses for others.
While employed with Monsanto in St. Louis, Ray met his future wife, Suzanne Leber. They moved to Lakeland, FL for several years, but eventually settled in Houston, TX in 1976. During their 54 years of marriage, Sue & Ray raised two children (Scott & Wendy). Ray actively supported his kids through softball, Indian Guides, & the neighborhood swim team. He also volunteered as a soccer referee, as well as a coach for several local girls' soccer teams.
Sue & Ray shared many memories together including their travels back to St. Louis, San Diego, San Francisco, New Orleans, Tampa, & Seattle. One of their most memorable trips was out to the beautiful island country of Aruba. Ray was highly devoted to his Catholic religion, & his church, Prince of Peace. He was an active member of the choir, a lector, & he volunteered his time setting up for various church functions & celebrations. Furthermore, Ray was passionate about genealogy research, spending many hours creating detailed family biographies. Finally, Ray never publicly revealed his remarkable mural & oil painting talents – most notably, two beautiful murals created in their home of 50 years in Spring, TX.
Ray is survived by his wife, Suzanne Leber; daughter, Wendy Kristen Leber; son, Scott Christopher Leber (Lorena – daughter-in-law); grandchildren, C.J. & Lennon Leber; brother, Glen Leber; sisters, Mary Hydorn & Cynthia Welzbacher; and numerous nieces & nephews.

A reception will be held after the funeral mass in the community center at Prince of Peace Catholic Church.  The committal service to follow.
