Rayfield Kenneth Wert
Ray Wert was born April 5, 1938, in Somerset Wisconsin, the son of Kenneth Rayfield and Agnes Elizabeth Lowe Wert. He grew up around Stillwater and Hudson, WI. After high school, he proudly served in the US Air Force as an avionics specialist, where he began his love of electronics.
He married Marie Claudell White in 1959, and together they raised four children – Kevin, Tony, Stacey, and Leslie - in Houston Texas. He was the proud grandfather of six. Ray was very active in his Catholic community. He spent years sharing his considerable handyman skills with Habitat for Humanity and Carpenters for Christ. He was a Sir Knight in the 4th Degree, and held elected offices in both the 4th Degree and the 3rd Degree in the Knights of Columbus.
He volunteered extensively with many of their charity events, and was happily participating at one in his last moments. After a long career in electrical engineering, computer programming, and robotics, he finally retired (for the 3rd time), but couldn't stay away from a keyboard. He spent the past year mentoring The Woodlands College Park High School robotics team. He took great pride and delight in their efforts and accomplishments.
Ray and Claudell were lifelong campers and RV travelers, and were Square Dancers for over 40 years. They traveled extensively to many countries and most of the US states with friends and family. As a family, we are happy that we recently gathered along with lifelong friends to celebrate his 80th birthday.
It was a life well lived!
