Obituary

Our beloved father and husband, Randy Alan Kleppel, went to be with our Lord on January 12, 2024. Randy was born in Houston, Texas, on March 19, 1960, to the late Alfred Alvin Kleppel and Eddie Jo Aldridge. Randy and Kathy (Kyle) Kleppel met when Randy was 18 and Kathy 16 at Tin Hall, became high school sweethearts and were married  on June 7, 1980.  Randy started as a diesel mechanic at Mustang Caterpillar out of high school, then went to work at Cameron Ironworks in Cypress.  Afterwards Randy went into business for himself in construction and septic systems. Randy then was employed at John Eagle Honda as a Service Manager, and then finally retired from Just Brakes in 2014 as the Store Manager.

Randy and Kathy resided in Cypress, Texas, where they raised their two daughters Jennifer O'Rourke and Rebecca Barr. He was a hardworking family man and a devoted father to his children and grandchildren. He loved to go hunting, fishing, shoot guns and grow hot peppers in his garden. Randy was the true definition of a gentle giant with a heart of gold. He could build anything and repair everything. He loved spending quality time with his family, talking about antique cars & trucks, and watching endless reruns of old westerns. Randy especially loved his dogs "Lilly & Daisy". His therapy dog "Lilly" was by his side every step of the way through the past 9 ½ years of illness. She was blind and deaf, but knew where he was at all times. Prior to his failing health, his love and passion was riding his Harley Davidson. He was a member of the La Familia Motorcycle club since 2012. He was also a very active and dedicated committee member for the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo since 1996.

Randy is preceded in death by his grandparents; his parents, Alfred Kleppel and Eddie Jo Aldridge; stepmom, Gertrude Kleppel; brother, Don Kleppel and sister-in-law Peggy Kleppel, their two sons Tommy & Timmy Kleppel.

Randy is survived by his loving wife, Kathy Kleppel; youngest daughter, Rebecca Barr and son-in-law Chris Barr and grandson Brantley Barr; oldest daughter, Jennifer O'Rourke and son-in-law Stephen O'Rourke, granddaughters Dakota and Peyton O'Rourke and grandsons Nicholas and Thomas O'Rourke; brothers, Ronnie Kleppel and wife Linda Kleppel; Ricky Kleppel and wife Wanda Kleppel; sister, Linda Green and husband Joe Green; nieces, Dianna Sanders, Donna Kleppel and Stephanie Green; nephews, Andy Kleppel, Frank Green, Robert Kleppel and Ronald Kleppel.

Dad, PawPaw, Grandpa will be greatly missed as he was the most loving, supportive and strong patriarch of the family. He leaves behind a wonderful legacy in his children and grandchildren. Randy was loved by all that knew him. We will miss him greatly and the way he loved us all.
