Randall Lynn Kight (Randy), 74, of Cypress, TX passed away on 2/12/2023. Born to James and Betty Kight, Randy was their oldest child.

Randy attended high school in Beaumont, TX and then went to the University of Houston where he studied Journalism and played basketball for UofH. After earning his Masters, Randy began his 45 years of teaching and coaching at various schools such as Webster Elementary, Spring High School and Westfield High School where he opened the school as the Boys Varsity Basketball coach. He then ended his career at Cypress Creek High School for 30 years as a teacher and Girls Varsity Softball coach where he retired in 2021.

During his time at Cy-Creek, Randy achieved over 400 wins among many district titles. Being a coach brought him so much joy, and he often just introduced himself as Coach.

Randy leaves behind his loving wife, Kathy Fling, having spent 32 years together. As well as his siblings, Tami Williams-Sevier, Debbie McNeely and Larry Kight. He also leaves behind his children: Lisa Holub, Kevin Ward, Lyndsey Barfield, Lori Day and Kristi Godfrey, along with many loved grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at The HUB at The MET on Sunday, 2/19/23 at 3:30 PM. Family will greet at 3, with a reception following the service at Randy's favorite hangout Sportin' Woody's.
