Obituary

Randall "Randy" Lee Baker passed away June 17, 2017. He was born on July 10, 1957, in Corpus Christi, Texas, to David and Barbara (Fenley) Baker, the oldest of four children. In 1975, he graduated from Mary Carroll High School. While growing up, he played baseball and basketball, and this love of sports continued throughout his life. He coached many of his children's teams, and was one of his grandchildren's greatest fans at all of their activities. Randy was employed in the oil and gas industry with Harley Marine.
On July 15, 1977, he married the love of his life, Susan Joy Vanderhoof. Together, they had four children: Melissa Leigh; Matthew Randall, who died in infancy; Andrew Christopher; and Sarah Ashley. Randy was known for his playful and loving nature with his children, nieces, and nephews as they were growing up. Reading, drawing, and playing games such as chess and Risk with family were some of his favorite pastimes.
Randy was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle, and cousin. His greatest joys in life were the people with whom he surrounded himself. A heart of gold and a willingness to help others were some of his defining characteristics.
Randy was preceded in death by his son, Matthew Baker; father, David Baker; his maternal grandparents, Meldon Royce and Cleo Smith; and paternal grandparents, Lawrence Lafayette and Catherine Baker. He is survived by his wife, Susan Baker; children, Melissa Kanak and husband Kirk, Andrew Baker and wife Holly, and Sarah Smith and husband Nolan; his mother, Barbara Baker; brother, Richard Baker and wife Jennifer; sisters, Trudy (Baker) Perriraz and husband Benny, and Tracy (Baker) Shireman and husband Bill; his grandchildren, Evan and Leah Kanak, Hailey and Hayden Baker, and Caitlin and Grady Smith; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive visitors Wednesday, June 21, 2017, from 6-7 p.m. at Klein Funeral Home, 1400 W. Main, Tomball, TX 77375. A funeral service will be held Thursday, June 22, 2017, at 10 a.m. in the funeral home chapel. Interment will be private.
