Randal Gar West, age 68, passed away on April 11, 2022 peacefully in his sleep at his home in Richmond, TX after a lengthy illness.
Randy was born in Minneapolis, MN on March 8, 1954 to Carol and Vol West. Randy attended Vincenza American High School in Vicenza, Italy and graduated in 1972. After graduation he moved back to Texas to attend Sam Houston State University. There he met his first wife, Elize Dartez West, and had his two girls, Ashley Anne Duran and Gayle Elizabeth Turle.
After graduation from SHSU, Randy began working for Stewart & Stevenson where he enjoyed a 35+ year long career.
Randy always had a huge love for music and dancing. His favorite music was rocking to the oldies. He also adored spending time with his daughters and enjoyed going out dancing as much as he could. He was an avid fan of all things Astros, Texans, and John Wayne films. He liked collecting political memorabilia from all parties both present and past. He enjoyed playing board games and penny poker with his girls.
Randy is preceded in death by his mother Carol West in 2018. He is survived by his wife Tamara Renate Anlauf West and children Ashley Anne Duran (Michael) and Gayle Elizabeth Turle (Corby) as well as his grandchildren Tristan Patrick (9) and Kora Audrey Turle (6 months). He also leaves behind his father, Vol D. West, and sister, Rosemarie Velasquez (Baldo), nephew Daryl Huff (Dawn) and great nieces and nephews Haidyn (18), Liam (12), and McKenzie Huff (11), as well as aunts Johnnye W. Greuter (Mike) and Susan Gist (Michael).
There will be a graveside service on Tuesday, April 19th at 11:00am at Klein Memorial Park Cemetery located at 32539 SH 249, Pinehurst, TX 77362. There will also be a Memorial Mass on Saturday, May 14th at noon at Notre Dame Catholic Church located at 7720 Boone Rd., Houston, TX 77072.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association (www.alz.org).
