Ralph Lee Powell, 86, has joined his Lord and Savior Saturday, October 14, 2023. He is preceded in death by his wife Mary Margaret (Marty) and parents Lonzo and Beatrice Powell. Ralph was born August 18, 1937 in Vanleer, Tennessee and was the oldest of his surviving siblings Barbara McGee, Danny Powell and David Powell. After high school, he attended Austin Peay State University where he obtained a Bachelor's of Science degree in chemistry and math. He enlisted in the Army where he served Special Operations as a Chemist. In 1960, he married the love of his life, Marty and remained married for 49 years at the time of her passing. After honorable discharge from the Service, he went on to have a stellar career in Agricultural Sales, where he retired in 2014. After retirement, he enjoyed playing golf at Tomball Country Club where he proudly had 4 "Holes in One." He thoroughly loved his time there with the many friends he has made over the years.
Ralph was preceded in death by his wife Mary Margaret Powell and parents Lonzo and Beatrice Powell. He is survived by his son, Jeff Powell; daughter and her spouse, Ericka and Steven Surber; grandchildren, Bryan Powell, Blake, Elyse and Ava Surber; siblings, Barbara and husband Billy McGee, Danny Powell and David Powell; nieces, Carol Simmons, Glynda Maxey, Lynda Basham, Natalie Simmons, Stacey Reece, Susan Estes, Hunter Spivey, Marti Turner; nephews, Chris McGee, Matthew Maxey, Scott Powell, and so many more loving relatives.
Ralph lived a life as a strong believer in Jesus Christ, selfless love for his family and his country. Ralph was happiest surrounded by family, playing golf, attending mass, or spoiling his grandchildren. His bigger than life heart, humor, kindness and love for others will be what is so very missed.
