Obituary

Ralph Herbert Myers was born in Darke County Ohio on July 3, 1935. He left his earthly home for his eternal home on November 4, 2020. Known to his family and childhood friends as Buddy, Ralph grew up in Beaumont, Texas where he was a buddy to many throughout his life, at work, in his church, and among those he called friends in the worlds of off-road motorcycling, bluegrass, and world missions. He was the second of five children born to parents Vohn and Anna Myers.
The happiest day of his life was his wedding day when he married Grace Marie Miller on November 11, 1956. They lived in Houma, Louisiana, Beaumont, Texas and Houston, Texas. He was an involved dad, and loved his son Ralph Matthew well. Ralph was active in his church where he served as a MYF youth volunteer and Young Life leader. He was also active as a leader in the Boy Scouts, and in motorcycling, and was a charter member of the Trail Riders of Houston and the South Texas Trials Association. He loved music as well, and played a harmonica and Dobro in the local bluegrass community, attending many jam sessions.
Ralph's life work was in the airline industry, working for 29 years for Delta Air Lines as a mechanic and maintenance instructor, and another 10 years with Continental Air Lines as a maintenance instructor. He was fortunate to be able to travel in his job, seeing many cities in Europe and throughout the United States.
But he also served in short term missions when he could and was involved with Mission Aviation Fellowship, Greater Europe Mission, and East-West Ministries. He worked on planes, refurbished office buildings, and ministered in Eastern Europe. He got no greater pleasure than when he was meeting and serving those who needed whatever he could give.
He lost the love of his life in 2016, shortly after the birth of his second great grandchild. He continued to make friends in the Atria Cypresswood and Brookdale Champions. He passed away after a stroke in November 2020. He is survived by his siblings, Melba Boykin, Vohn Myers, Jerry Myers, and Carol Wommack; his son Matt, and wife Paula; grandchildren Mitchell and wife Katy Myers, Emma and husband Chad Lee, and Peter and wife Lindsay Myers. He also has five great children: Clara Lee (6), Marcie Lee (4), Jack Myers (3), Sadie Myers (2), and Hayes Lee (1). Ralph loved life, and he loved his Lord, Jesus Christ. He would want you to know that you too, can know Jesus, and through that knowledge be welcomed into an eternity with him.
