Ralph Joseph "Bud" Landgrebe, Jr., a loving father, uncle, grandpa, brother, and friend passed away peacefully in his sleep surrounded by family on November 28, 2018. He was 89.

Bud was born January 17, 1929 in Houston, Texas to parents, Ralph and Emeilie Landgrebe. He was the oldest of four children; Charlie, Victor, and Elizabeth. Hobbies growing up included coon hunting with his dog (Old Rattler), fishing, riding his horse (Nellie), and traveling. Upon graduating from Jefferson Davis High and attending two years at University of Houston, Bud proudly served in the US Army as a Master Sergeant in artillery with the 40th Infantry Division. After returning home, he worked as a Walking Foreman on the Houston Ship Channel for Lyke's Brothers. He retired as a longshoreman in 1991.

Bud was a man of integrity and unwavering character. His family and friends knew him as a loyal and kind father, a brave soldier and a hard worker. His dry sense of humor and sharp wit made him an amazing storyteller. He loved telling his children and grandchildren stories about his childhood, the army days, and the incredible history of his family. And, rarely would a conversation go by that they would not hear the phrase, "I'll be darned."

Bud loved telling jokes and always had a rope in his pocket, ready to entertain his grandchildren with his tricks and see if they could figure them out.

Bud also enjoyed to travel. Riding along as his brother, Charlie, drove, he was always the navigator on road trips. He would plan out a trip a year in advance, detailing every stop along the way. He loved showing his grandchildren the wonders of the west such as Yellowstone National Park, Crater Lake, and Carlsbad Caverns. He enjoyed seeing the look on their faces.

It is an impossible feat to encompass Bud in only a few paragraphs. He was so much more than any of these words can convey. He was a man with the kindest heart, the best sense of humor, and who loved and lived life to the fullest.  He will be missed beyond measure and will remain in our hearts and memories forever.

Bud leaves behind his loving immediate family, which includes a son, Kenneth Landgrebe and wife, Patricia, of Spring, TX; a daughter, Kathleen Elizabeth Nelson and husband, Steven, of Channelview, TX; and a son, Douglas Landgrebe of Sheldon, TX. He had four grandchildren, who he loved dearly - Chris Landgrebe and wife, Stacy, of Montgomery, TX; David Landgrebe of Spring, TX; Steven Wayne Nelson, Jr. and wife, Dana, of Humble, Texas; April Michelle Collins and husband, Michael, of Pearland, Texas and seven great grandchildren; Tyler, Zach, Halle, Dylan, Oliver, Elizabeth, and one more due in June, 2019. He is survived by one brother, Victor Landgrebe of Dew, TX, and one sister, Elizabeth Neidigk of Cypress, TX; several nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Emeilie Landgrebe, and brother, Charles "Charlie" Willis Landgrebe.

A viewing will be held Saturday, December 1st from 5 – 8 PM., and the funeral service will be held at 2 PM Sunday, December 2nd at Klein Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the Zahn Family Cemetery.
