Obituary

Rahelamma "Rachel" Adai was born in the lush tropical state of Kerala in India on May 28, 1948. She was the sixth of eight children born to Mathunny and Anamma John. She earned her nursing degree in Nagpur, India and married Issac T. Adai on December 28, 1970. She gave birth to her eldest daughter Bindu in 1972. She immigrated to the US in December 1975 and lived in the Rio Grande Valley. In 1985, she gave birth to her second daughter, Rebekah. In 2009, she was promoted to the role of grandmother with the birth of her favorite child to date--Ava Mathew.

Although raised in a Christian family, Rachel re-committed herself to Christ and became a born-again believer. Rachel was an active member of First Baptist Church in La Feria, Texas. But it was when she and her family moved to Houston and started attending The MET Church that she truly grew in her walk with the Lord. She served faithfully at The MET for 35 years, serving in various capacities over the years---from children's Sunday school teacher, Sunday prayer leader, Healing Ministry member, women's small group leader, Sunday church greeter, and the Seniors ministry member--just to name a few. She also accompanied the church on several mission trips, including Mexico and Romania.

It was her love for God and her family that truly defined who she is. She was the epitome of the Proverbs 31 woman--humble, selfless, hard working, loving, kind, and faithful.

2 Timothy 4: 7 says: "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. " And that epitomized Rachel.

On September 3, 2025, to our heartbreak but to heaven's joy, she secured her crown in heaven. We know she is standing in front of God and He is smiling with love and joy as he says, " "Well done, good and faithful servant."

She is survived by her husband, Issac T. Adai and her two daughters, Bindu Adai Mathew and Rebekah Adai Dey and her son-in-law Joel Dey as well as her grandchild, Ava Mathew. She is also survived by her brother CJ Varghese,; her sister Sosamma Kurian and her husband PA Kurian, Saramma Thomas and her husband Rev PM Thomas, and her youngest sister Jolly Philip and her husband Sunny K Philip, along with many family members on her husbands' side.
