R. Dwayne Whitehead was born in Pasadena, Texas on December 4, 1944, and passed away in Conroe, Texas on September 14, 2021.

He is preceded in death by his daughter, Monica Anne Whitehead, and his parents, Randall and Laverne Whitehead.

Dwayne is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, JoDell Whitehead; his daughter, Rhonda Whitehead and son-in-law, James Ross; grandchildren, Austin Palazzesi, Parker Palazzesi, Regan Palazzesi, Madison Pendleton, and Maxwell Pendleton; and great-granddaughter, Lexi Palazzesi.

This special man had an amazing life. Dwayne was a Galena Park High School football star and went on Redshirt for the University of Texas Longhorns football team where he played in the Orange Bowl against Alabama. He then transferred to Lamar University where he Co-Captained the team and was a member of the Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity. He received his Bachelor of Business Science from Lamar in 1968.

He then went on to work for Arthur Anderson as a CPA until 1978. His career then took off in the financial industry. He held positions as the Chief Financial Officer at various financial organizations for the next 20 years. Dwayne was honored to serve on multiple SEC committees throughout his career. He retired in 2003 as the Chief Executive Officer at Coastal Securities after holding positions as CFO and COO. In his retirement, he was the owner of The Woodlands Benjamin Moore Paint store until 2015.

Dwayne was an avid golfer and fisherman. He was a member of Champions Country Club, Royal Oaks CC, The Woodlands CC and Woodforest CC. He taught Sunday School and served on the Shepherd Committee within his church. He was fortunate to have travelled all

around the globe where he enjoyed collecting wines. For however much he traveled, Dwayne was just as happy spending time close by in Lake Charles trying his luck at the blackjack tables.
