Pleasant Lewis Crossley, Jr. passed away at his home in Klein, Texas, on April 30, 2024, at age 93. He is survived by his wife Cythnia Lynch Crossley; daughter Nancy Jones and husband Stephen of Boulder, Colorado; daughter Alison Zubicek and husband Vince of Fulshear, Texas; and daughter Kim Eimer and husband Jack of Dallas, Texas. Lewis "Pops" is also survived by grandchildren Marshall Jones, Kinsey Jones, Lauren Zubicek, Luke Zubicek, Luke Leak, Joseph Leak, John Leak, and many nieces and nephews.

He is predeceased by his parents Nancy Mavanee Crouch Crossley and Pleasant Lewis Crossley, Sr., son Scott Lewis Crossley, and sisters Wilda Jean Boyd, Elaine Ballard and Mava Lou Elliott.

Lewis was born in 1930, the youngest of four children, in Eastland, Texas. When he was a boy, he once served as a page in the Texas Legislature in Austin when his father was State Representative. He attended Texas Tech University on a football scholarship (he caught a touchdown pass in the 1952 Sun Bowl!) and after receiving a Master's Degree and after a brief coaching career, joined the U.S. Navy where he served two years. After his Navy service he went to work for Phillips Petroleum Company where he worked in Midland and Perryton, Texas; Bartlesville, Oklahoma; Casper, Wyoming; Denver, Colorado; Atlanta, Georgia; and ended up as a Region Manager in Houston where he retired.

He was always active in community and neighborhood activities and was particularly involved with Cypress Creek Christian Church where he served in many leadership roles. He played golf for years and enjoyed the fellowship of his golfing buddies. Tech football was another passion of his and he enjoyed very much any opportunity to get back to Lubbock for a game.

Lewis enjoyed the company of many friends as he loved to socialize and visit with people. Lewis had a great sense of humor. He loved to both hear a good joke and share it with others. He had lots of fun joking around.

Lewis was a wonderful husband and father – a great provider. He had a strong work ethic and even wanted to take the trash out up until the day he died.

Although not known for being "musical," Lewis had a good voice. You would often hear him singing a tune around the house and better yet, his and Cynthia's duets were lovely and quite entertaining at more than one family reunion. Lewis and those old songs will be greatly missed.
