Obituary

Phoebe Elaine (Allen) Goedecke went to be with the Lord on May 5, 2017 (she loved Mexican food and margaritas). She was surrounded by her family.  She would have been 81 on June 5.  Phoebe was born in Mobile, Alabama and moved to Pasadena when she 5.  She was 10 when her parents moved to Spring.  She graduated from Conroe High School in 1954 and married Rudolph (Rudy) Goedecke on June 25, 1954.  Except for the time Rudy was in the Air Force, Phoebe lived on the same property for over 70 years.
Phoebe is survived by her loving husband of almost 63 years; her brother David Allen (who knew her by nothing other than "Sissie") and his wife Carol of Matagorda, TX; her 3 daughters Kathy Fanchi and her husband John of Arlington, TX, Dorothy Peterson and her husband Jon of Spring, TX, Grace Groscurth and her husband Curt of Pearland, TX; her son Michael Goedecke; 6 grandchildren and 1 great grandson. Phoebe is also survived by members of the very large Goedecke family of which she was proud to be a part, including cousins, nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents, P.B. (Dick) and Grace Allen.
Phoebe's early years were spent raising her 4 children and following Rudy around the country, including being stationed in Missouri, Germany, Minnesota and Florida. They took full advantage of traveling while there.  She had the opportunity to go many places and see many things in her lifetime.  She was also grateful to spend many years in Pasadena, TX so she could be close to her mother.  She started working outside the home in 1974 and enjoyed the friendships she made while working.  She was always an active member of the church and most recently Immanuel United Church of Christ where she and Rudy were married.  She taught Sunday School and Children's Church, was a part of Women's Guild and Merry-Go-Round, and sat on numerous committees over the years.  She was a fantastic cook but especially known in Spring for her jams and jellies made with Rudy's homegrown fruits, especially peaches.
She touched so many lives, always doing for others, and keeping commitments to the very end. She will be forever loved and missed.

Friends are invited to visit with the family from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, May 10, at Klein Funeral Home - Tomball, 1400 W. Main, Tomball, TX 77375. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, May 11, at Immanuel United Church of Christ, 26501 Border Street, Spring, TX 77373, with interment to follow in Mt. Zion Cemetery, Spring.

If desired, memorial donations can be made to the Women's Guild at Immanuel United Church of Christ.
