Obituary

Phillip Garvice Crutcher, 76, of Cypress, TX passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Friday, January 26, 2024. He was born on February 11, 1947, to Garvice C. Crutcher and Marion O. Warren in Palestine, TX.

In 1965, Phillip graduated from Galena Park High School. He married the love of his life, Patricia Elaine Yarbrough on April 7, 1967. Shortly thereafter, he served our country for two years in the United States Navy and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal for his service during the Vietnam War where he was stationed on the USS Washburn. In 1969, he began his 42 year career at Goodyear where he held multiple positions and titles. This is where he made many of his lifelong friends.

Phillip was a family man. Every morning, he sang to his lovely wife, whom he called "Blue Eyes". He was always quick to brag about his family and never hesitated to tell them, and the entire world, how proud he was of them. He enjoyed hosting family dinner parties at their home, where the table could quickly turn into a poker or domino game. One of his greatest joys in life was coaching little league baseball and mentoring the young men who played for him. He was proud to be called "Coach" well after those young men had become adults. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing poker, playing golf and cheering on his favorite teams – the Dallas Cowboys, Los Angeles Dodgers and Houston Astros.

Those left to cherish his memory include his beloved wife of 56 years, Patricia Elaine Crutcher of Cypress, TX; son Rodney Crutcher and wife Andrea of Huntsville, TX, daughter Angela Sandoval and husband Adam of Cypress, TX; sister, Jeanie Hofer and husband Jerry of Terrell, TX; grandchildren Gregory Crutcher of Jasper, TX, Bryan Crutcher and wife Chelsea of Pflugerville, TX, Jennifer Crutcher of Pearland, TX, Caitlin Crutcher of League City, TX, and Mia Sandoval of Cypress, TX; and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and extended family members.

He was preceded in death by his parents Garvice Crutcher and Marion Pritt and brothers, Thomas (Sonny) Scarbrough and Larry (Michael) Crutcher, and son Gregory Scott Crutcher.
