Obituary

It is with great sadness we memorialize our beloved father, Philip J. Quiroz. Philip passed away on Friday, May 13 at 8:40 PM surrounded by his two children and close family members. Philip is predeceased by his cherished wife of 54 years, Maria D. (Martinez) Quiroz. He is survived by his son John Quiroz, daughter Lisa Quiroz Duhaime, son in law Craig Duhaime and granddaughters Ava & Erin Duhaime. He is also survived by his brother David Quiroz, sisters Josephine, Patricia, MaryAnne & many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Philip was born and raised in Houston and graduated from Reagan High School in 1953. Following high school, Philip attended the University of Saint Thomas and graduated in 1959. He then joined the U.S. Army and served for two years while stationed in Germany. Philip fell in love with Germany and explored much of Europe during his time there.

In 1961, Philip moved back to Houston and was a single man hoping to meet a nice woman to marry. Luck would have it that he met the love of his life Maria on a blind date set up by his friend Isador. Philip and Maria were married in 1964 and they purchased their first home in Oak Forest. Philip was a proud father in 1970 when his son John was born and in 1972 when his daughter Lisa was born.

Philip's career in the Offshore Drilling industry took our young family overseas from 1973-1980 living in Holland, Dubai, the Philippines, and Prince Edward Island during those years. Philip loved to travel and those were very happy times for our family. We are so proud of the man our father was and how blessed we were to have him in our lives. He was loving and dedicated and there is nothing he would not do for us. He was always there for us and now he is with us in our hearts and in our memories. His passing was very sudden.

Philip was a loving husband, father, "Tata", and brother and will be missed greatly by all.
