On the morning of April 7, 2024, Philip Gonzalez, 48, of Tomball, Texas, was called home after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born June 21, 1975, in San Antonio, Texas to Rudy Gonzalez Jr. and Linda (Hinojosa) Gonzalez.
Philip was pure love, light, and kindness to all he met. His love and faith in God came before all else, and never wavered through a single obstacle he encountered. He was always there for his family, friends, and even strangers for a shoulder to lean on or a good laugh.
His greatest passion in life was music, and he certainly had the voice of an angel. He spent most of his life singing whether it was through performing on stage in operas, serving as a cantor at church, entertaining others through karaoke, or simply singing opera in the shower so loud the neighbors could hear.
Philip was a devout Catholic, member of Knights of Columbus Council 14512 at St. Edward Catholic Church, Fourth Degree Knight of Assembly 2683, Eagle Scout, trained opera singer, lover of all music, chef, meme generator, collector of white elephant gifts, die hard Dallas Cowboys fan, loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, son, and faithful friend. His genuine spirit, humor, and infectious smile are just a few things we will all miss most.
He is survived by his wife, Shelley Gonzalez, daughter, Elizabeth Gonzalez, stepson, Dillon Gibbs, granddaughter, Luna Gonzalez-Perez, grandson, Wesley Webb, father, Rudy Gonzalez, Jr., brothers, Rudy A. Gonzalez (Jenny), Matthew Gonzalez (Kim), Paul Gonzalez (Lindsay), nephews, Xavier Gonzalez, Roman Gonzalez, William Gonzalez, Theodore Gonzalez, nieces, Kate Gonzalez, Lacey Ballou, great-nephew, Xavier Jordan Gonzalez, and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
Philip was preceded in death by his daughter, Evangelina Gonzalez, and his mother, Linda Gonzalez.
