Philip J. Candella, born in Eunice, LA on August 13, 1923, died in Lafayette, LA on April 26, 2018.  He was predeceased in death by his beloved wife, Anna Candella and  treasured grandson, Shawn Candella.  He is survived by his children, Phyllis Tyler and husband Darrell Tyler, Michael Candella, Elizabeth Kropf and husband Alex Kropf, Catherine Hilton and husband Carlos Barona, and Joseph Candella and wife Kaye Candella, 15 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.  After graduating from Eunice High in 1942, Philip started LSU.  He joined the 99th Infantry Division in April 1943 and served in Europe where he fought in the Battle of the Bulge in 1944, and was awarded the Bronze Star Medal.  He returned to LSU and graduated in 1949 with a degree in Petroleum Engineering.  He was employed by Gulf Oil Corp. for 34 years.  He retired in 1989 in Oklahoma and moved to Houston where he resided until 2018.  Visitation will be held at Klein Funeral Home, Spring, TX with public visitation from 6-8pm on May 14, 2018.  A funeral mass will be held at St. Ignatius Catholic Church at 11:00 a.m. on May 15, 2018,  followed by interment in the Houston National Cemetary at 1:00 p.m.
