With both heavy hearts and fond smiles, we announce the passing of Peter Kiser—our beloved husband,  brother, uncle, and friend—who left us on Thursday, May 22, 2025. He was 70 years old.

Pete was born in Torreon, Coahuila, Mexico on November 15, 1954, and spent his life full of grit, humor, and deep love. He married the love of his life, Lynda Dawn Kiser, on July 14, 1979. Their 45 years together were built on laughter, road trips, supporting Houston sports, and an unwavering devotion that stood the test of time.

He served honorably in the U.S. Air Force from 1974 to 1977 as a pararescueman—fearless, dedicated, and always looking out for others. Later, he served as a deputy with the Harris County Sheriff's Department, bringing his sense of duty to everything he did. Afterward, for many years Pete worked as a steel salesman. He had an iron will, but the kind of heart that softened for the people he loved.

Pete was predeceased by his parents, John Robert Kiser and Juana Flores Kiser, and his sister Mary Johnson. He is survived by nephews Colin and Ryder Johnson, brother-in-law D.J. Johnson, niece McKenzie Flannery Severe, great nephews Atticus and Matthias Severe, and sister and brother-in-law Cheryl and Kevin Flannery. But his family extended far beyond blood—his friends were family, too, and he made each one feel like they mattered.

He and Dawn traveled across the U.S. together, collecting memories, inside jokes, and hotel keys along the way. He was a deeply loyal friend, a champion of his people, and a man who loved a good laugh—especially if it came at your expense (gently, of course). Pete's sense of humor was legendary. He teased with a twinkle in his eye, and if he gave you a hard time, it meant you had a place in his heart.

Pete's absence is already deeply felt because his presence was so strong. He filled every room with his laughter and every heart with warmth. We loved him fiercely. We miss him terribly.

In honoring Pete, we remember not just how he died, but how he lived—with determination, with love, and optimism. He struggled fiercely to the end with courage and resolve.

A celebration of Pete's life will be held on Tuesday, May 27, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. at Klein Funeral Home - CyFair Northwest, 9719 Wortham Blvd., Houston, TX 77065. Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow the service at Klein Memorial Park, Cypress.
