Pernie Jewel Dunson, 87, of Spring, passed away on September 21, 2022. She was born to the late Wilburn and Sara Ruthven, along with her twin brother Lernie, on October 2, 1934 in the town of Blue, Lee County, Texas.
Pernie is survived by her three children: Sarah Dunson Corie of Baton Rouge, Robert Dunson III of Conroe and Leslie Dunson Frye and her husband Bryan of Spring. She is survived by eleven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Pernie was predeceased by her loving husband Robert (Bob) Dunson, Jr. in 2015.
Pernie married Bob in 1954 and they lived together in the Houston area for 62 years. Pernie and Bob shared a rare love. He knew he was going to marry her when he first saw her at First Baptist Church in Houston as teenagers. They married a year after graduating from Reagan High School and were devoted to each other. She counted the days until she could finally be reunited with him.
Pernie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved Jesus and believed in the power of prayer. She spent her last years enjoying stories about her grandchildren and praying for her family daily. As her health declined in recent years, she would still say she was "grateful and blessed".
Visitation will be held on Monday, September 26, 2022 from 9:00-10:00 am at Klein Funeral Home-Champions. A graveside service will immediately follow at 11:00 am at Klein Memorial Park, 9714 FM 2920, Tomball, Texas.
