Peggy Joy Post, 91, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and cherished friend, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 14, 2026 in Houston, Texas. She was born on February 14, 1935, in El Centro, California, to Barbara Worth Dunn and Mansil Alvis Williams.

She was the proud matriarch of her family, loved to read and had an amazing memory of book titles and authors. She was an avid fan of the Houston Texas football team, loved to watch Houston Rockets basketball and figure skating. Favorite places to eat included Papasito's, Gaido's in Galveston, Annie's Burgers and it was always a treat to go to Moeller's Bakery in Bellaire for cake and cookies. And always available was Pepsi.

Known as "Grandmama" by all the grandchildren, she also gained several nicknames through the years including Pegatha, Pegster and Evangeline. She had silver "fairy" hair and smooth, wrinkle-free skin from only using Merle Norman products throughout her life.

Peggy had a variety of employment positions from working in a fabric store, various seamstress projects, and legal secretary to assisting with helping physicians transition to private practice. She was a pastoral secretary for Dan Yeary, Singles program minister at South Main Baptist Church in Houston. She then became the residency coordinator in the Department of Surgery at the University of Texas Medical School in Houston and also knew the famous Dr. Red Duke.

She was a member of Main Song, a singles choir, at South Main Baptist Church in Houston, Texas. Dressed in black and white, and frequently called "The Oreos", this group was a wonderful support group and also recorded an album with their favorite songs.

Peggy had friendships with many colorful people throughout the years and also traveled to London, Libya and the island of Malta.

She lived independently in her home in Houston for over 40 years in relatively good health. When her health began to decline, we were blessed to have Debra Finnerman care for her in her home until she moved to Lubbock in 2022. She quickly made friends in her assisted living facility and became a favorite challenge of the loving, caregiving staff of Heartland House in Lubbock before moving back to Houston in 2024, where she was cared for by Giulia at The Forum in The Woodlands.  The family would like to thank the staff of Oasis Hospice for the loving care and support they provided during her time in their care.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her sister Gloria Snodgrass and husband Tom Snodgrass, her sister Sue Atchley, and her daughter, Debra Gale MacMillan and son-in-law Doug MacMillan.

She is survived by her daughter, Dina Post Barhorst (Alan), son, Darren Post (Beverly) and son, Dennis Post (Monica). Her legacy continues through her 14 cherished grandchildren: Kristene (Nathan), Colin (Desirae), Ryan (Destrie), Brandi (Willie), Dillon (Rachel), Bailey, Reicher (Dana), Erica (Bo), Caitlyn, Rebecca, David, Melissa (Eric), Matthew and Branden; and was also blessed with 11 great-grandchildren: Inara, Isaac, Jacen, Aurora, Konner, Layla, Caleb, Liam, Charlotte, Nicholas, Bentley, and one more blessing arriving in July, 2026.

She is also survived by her sister, Judy Carter and brother, Al Williams (Donna), two nieces Kristi (Fred) and Kimi (David), and a nephew Troy (Heather), great nieces and nephews, extended family members and dear friends, who were a part of her long and well-lived life.

A celebration of Peggy's life will be held Monday, April 20, 2026, at 2:00 pm at Klein Funeral Home Magnolia – The Woodlands, 14711 FM 1488, Magnolia, Texas.
