Obituary

Peggy Joyce Hazelton, 83 of Spring, Texas passed away Monday, February 24, 2025.  Peggy was born Marck 31, 1941 on Houston, Texas to Willie Mae and Wallace P. Beck.  She grew up in the Spring Branch area and attended Spring Branch High School until her senior year when her family moved to the Aldine area.  Shae was a graduate of Aldine High School in 1959.  She attended SAGU, now know as Nelson University, for one semester in 1960.  She then returned to Houston and worked for a while in the Banking industry.  She married the love of her life, Rev. James Edwin Hazelton on March 3, 1961.  They ministered faithfully for over 60 years.  They pastored churches in Bryan, Clawson, Dickson, Houston and Spring.  They also traveled as evangelists all over the Southern United States for over 20 years.  While they were pastoring, Peggy worked for a five-store chain of McDonalds Restaurants as their marketing manager for over 10 years.  Even while working full time outside the home she was still able to fulfill her duties as the first lady of their ministry.  Since retiring from full-time ministry, they ministered everywhere they went, in grocery stores, restaurants, Walmart and anywhere else that they could point people to Jesus.  Peggy was a wonderful singer and an accomplished musician.  Her musical talent greatly enhanced their ministry.  She was a great cook.  She loved doing crafts and she loved to shop.  She loved people and was known for her beautiful smile.  She loved her family and enjoyed being with them every time that she could.

Peggy is survived by her brother, Royce G. Beck (Barbara) and sister-in-law Elizabeth Beck and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other special relatives and friends.  She is preceded in death by her husband, James of 63 years, one month, and 3 days, her sister Hazel Earlene Juenke, her brother Wallace W. "Butch" Beck, her mother Willie Mae and father Wallace P. Beck.

A special Thank You to Houston Hospice for the excellent care that they have provided Peggy for this past year.  Especially her nurse Chris Coschigano and attendant Natasha Mitchell.  Also Chaplain Marc Houston for his frequent visits of comfort, prayer, and encouragement.  You made her life in her last days comfortable and peaceful.

Thank you so much to the Beautiful Minds Assisted Living for the lovely and comfortable accommodations that you provided Peggy this past eleven months.  Thank you Josh Adams and your wonderful staff for providing Peggy with a caring home away form home.  You truly went above and beyond our expectations.  All of the attendants there are awesome, but Azelin, Gabrielle, Katherine, and Jennifer were especially attentive and sweet to her these past few weeks.  Erma and Hazel, her fellow residents, brought joy to her with their friendship.
