Obituary

Peggy LaNell Dykes, 75, of Cypress, Texas, received her crown of life and found her long-awaited safe place in the arms of Jesus on March 6, 2017.

Peggy was born on August 17, 1941 in Gilmer, Texas to Barney and Helen Johnson. She graduated from Longview High School in Longview, Texas where she met her life-long sweetheart Aaron after "accidentally" falling on the school stairs so he could catch her.  Aaron and Peggy married on August 20, 1960 and celebrated 56 years of marriage.

Peggy accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior at an early age and her love for Southern Gospel Music became one of her greatest joys.   She played the piano, was the guest vocalist at numerous events and became life-long friends with many in the Southern Gospel industry who adored her in return.

In addition to music, Peggy had a passion for studying history, decorating pretty things, shopping for classy clothes and finding the best pair of heels a girl could buy.

Peggy worked in the Oil Field Industry as an Office Manager for the majority of her career then later became the Office Manager for the largest Civic Association in America. She prided herself in paperwork, but would quickly tell you that her greatest accomplishment on earth was being the proud mom to her only child, Shannon.   The two were inseparable and Shannon and Peggy remained best friends throughout life.

Peggy's elegance, class, courage and sense of humor were only surpassed by the incredible love for all she met. She lived to give to others and her legacy will live on through her husband Aaron, daughter Shannon and husband David, grandson Sean and wife Michelle, great grandson, James, as well as a multitude of family and friends who were forever changed because they knew her.

A viewing and visitation with the family will be Monday, March 13, 2017 from 5:00 PM - 8:00 PM at Klein Funeral Home; 1400 W. Main; Tomball, TX 77375.
