Peggy Jane Brumfield Hudson, 81, of Cypress, passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, August 15, 2024. She was born February 1, 1943, in Whistler, Alabama to the late James Dudley Brumfield and Hazel King. Peggy grew up in Eight Mile, Alabama before moving to Louisiana, following the loss of her parents at a young age, where she was raised by her older sister and family. She graduated from Byrd High School in Shreveport, Louisiana and went on to attend the University of Mississippi in Oxford, Mississippi where she graduated in 1965 with her Bachelor of Arts in Education.

While at Ole Miss, Peggy met her husband of 56 years, Charlie Albritton Hudson, Sr. The two were married in 1967, and shortly after moved to Fort Lewis, Washington where she taught middle school while Charlie served in Vietnam. Upon his discharge from the Army in 1969, Charlie and Peggy settled in New Orleans, Louisiana where she continued teaching until moving to Houston, Texas, in 1972. When her husband opened his own oil and gas business, Charlie Hudson and Associates, Inc., Peggy focused on raising her three children and working part-time as a bookkeeper for the company.

Described as a "do-er" by many, Peggy filled her time with many hobbies and volunteering to stay connected to her community and loved ones. Some of these being active in the Klein Forest Football Booster Club, member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, and volunteering (and later working) at St. Luke's Texas Heart Institute. Her free time was filled with a wide-range of recreational activities ranging from computer games to crafts, gardening to genealogy, or simply reading a book to chatting on the front porch at the family lakehouse.

Above all else, family was what Peggy treasured most. Some of her fondest memories are the summers she spent at the lake, whether it be in Bentonville, Arkansas with her cousins or Lake Livingston with family and friends. Mimi's love for family extended beyond the need to be related to be considered a part of her family. She was a fierce protector of those she considered her people, both relatives and friends. Because of her loving and welcoming nature she was affectionately known as "Mimi" or "Mama Hudson" and will be greatly missed. For a while we will continue to cry, what she referred to as, "selfish tears", but knowing she has been reunited with those she lost too soon has brought peace and comfort to those around her.

Including her parents, Peggy is preceded in death by her son Charlie Hudson, Jr., her beloved husband Charlie Hudson, Sr., her sisters Winnie Nell Querbes, Carol Henderson, and Eva Wayne Timbrook, brother J.P. Brumfield, sister-in-law Fumiko Brumfield, and nephew, Steve Brumfield.

Peggy is survived by her daughter Kendall Hudson McKinney, and son Edward Karlyle "Lyle" Hudson (Elizabeth). She is also survived by six loving grandchildren; Bailey Aileen Hudson and Kasey Hudson De La Garza (Mauricio), Addison Elizabeth McKinney, Madeline Hudson McKinney, Taylor Emma Hudson, Charlie Hayden Hudson; sister-in-law Nan Woodward and numerous nieces and nephews.

Celebration of Life Services will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, August 24, 2024, at Klein Funeral Home at 16131 Champion Forest Drive, Spring, Texas 77379.

Interment to be held at a later date, in a private ceremony at Houston National Cemetery.
