Obituary

Pearl Scoular born on July 6, 1935 in Wishaw, Scotland to parents George and Sarah Main, and passed away on June 17, 2023 quietly at home in Houston, Texas. She is survived by brother Bill, sister Isobel, son George, daughters Yvonne and Tracey, 10 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, in-laws, nieces and nephews.

On leaving school, she entered her father's furniture business and helped with accounting. Pearl and Norman were high school sweethearts and after a year long engagement, they were married on March 20, 1957.They spent a few years in Wishaw starting their family and working in both family businesses. In 1962, they purchased a small village garage in the sleepy hamlet of Inverkip, located southwest of Glasgow on the banks of the River Clyde. Pearl had an active role in the business as an accountant and bookkeeper- while also being an attentive mother to her children- George, Yvonne, and Tracey. Pearl and Norman had many wonderful business trips throughout the world over the years.

After many years of building the business from a two pump petrol station into a thriving auto dealership, Pearl and Norman decided to give the family new roots, and in early 1979 the family immigrated to the United States. They purchased a home in Hastings-on-Hudson, close by family cousins Bob and Elaine Donald. Pearl found a job as a secretary in an investment firm, in White Plains, NY. In 1982, Pearl and Norman along with their youngest daughter Tracey, were once again on the move as they decided to be closer to their son George and daughter Yvonne who had earlier moved to Houston, Texas. Pearl finished her varied career as a caregiver to three of her grandchildren- Christopher, Heather, and Sarah Silver.

Pearl in her early years was very active playing tennis and golf. She enjoyed her many outings and short trips with friends made at college and during her days as a bookkeeper. Pearl loved knitting as her children and grandchildren can attest to with the various sweaters and blankets she knitted for them all. She also loved gardening, nature, and music.

Pearl- Wife, Mother, Grandmother, and friend, will certainly be missed by all those who knew and loved her. Surrounded by God's embrace, she may now rest in peace with her husband, Norman, and all her friends and family who entered the kingdom of Heaven before her.
