Obituary

Paz Alamia Guerra has joined the Angels in Heaven. She was born on August 11, 1944 in Edinburg, Texas. Her parents were Luis A. Alamia and Adelina Perez Alamia both deceased. Paz's passing occurred on October 16, 2018 after battling cancer for 14 years. Her bravery, through the many years of treatment that extended her life, was exceptional

She is survived by her husband of 53 years Jose O. Guerra and their two children, Christopher Jon Guerra, (Donna Guerra), and Larissa Nicole Guerra. Her beloved granddaughters Mia Guerra and Abigail Guerra Hall whom she loved dearly, also survived her.

She is also survived by sisters, Sylvia Pena (Aaron), Linda Alamia, brothers, Luis Alamia, Jr. (Marcy Alamia), Richard Alamia (Yolanda) and Rodolfo Alamia (Paula Alamia).

Paz attended Texas Women's University, where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Social Work and Corpus Christi A&I, later Texas A&M University where she earned her Master of Science. These degrees helped her career in Social Work where she helped people her entire working life. She also attended Pan American University, Edinburg, Texas for 1 year where she was selected as Miss Pan American University 1963. Her career and love of helping people lead her to Family Services of Houston where she retired after 41 years with the title of Senior Vice President. This profession gave her great joy in helping people and her coworkers. She was well known in her community of Social Work with The United Way and had advanced accreditations that increased her licenses and helped her to work with the needy and her coworkers.

A celebration of her life will be held at Klein Funeral Home 16131 Champion Forest Dr, Spring, Texas 77379, 281-320-2674, at 2:00 pm on Saturday, October 27, 2018 .

Donations can be made in her memory to the Carcinoid Cancer Foundation at https://www.carcinoid.org/ . Paz was an ardent member of the local support group and was instrumental in helping other patients seek additional treatment of this rare cancer.
