Paul Thayer Wiesner, 89, passed away peacefully on May 17, 2026. Born on February 9, 1937, in Pittsburgh, PA, to Wilbert C. Wiesner and Gertrude K. Hanselman Wiesner.  Paul grew up alongside his sister, Janet Wiesner Hamlin sharing a great childhood together and remained close all their lives.  Paul carried with him the grit, pride, and loyalty that made Pittsburgh forever home in his heart.

In his younger years, Paul was an avid athlete who enjoyed baseball and football.  Other childhood passions included hunting and fishing.   He remained a dedicated fisherman for the rest of his life.

As he grew into adulthood, he developed an interest in building – having built the last house he and his family lived in before moving to Texas.  And, he spent much time adding to or remodeling the house in which he lived with his wife Gloria.  He also became an avid wood worker building several pieces of furniture for his house and for his family.  He built childhood beds for his grandchildren, dollhouses, entertainment centers, and desks.

He can most be remembered for being a lifelong Pittsburgh Steelers fan.  Paul cheered his team with enthusiasm every season and passed that same passion on to his children.

Paul proudly served his country in the United States Army for two years. After his honorable discharge, he married Sandra Eberhardt, and together they shared 25 years and raised three children: Robert, Deborah, and Heather.

Paul enjoyed a 50-year career in oilfield supply sales, beginning in the mid-1960s with Anvil Products. He moved his family to Longview, Texas, to serve as Sales Manager for their casing and tubing coupling operation. After seven years, Paul  relocated himself and his family to Houston, Texas, where he continued his career working with other companies. Known for his honest service and consistent follow-up, Paul built strong client relationships and often strengthened them through golf outings and fishing trips.

Later in life, Paul found lasting love with Gloria Rogers Wiesner, and together they shared 40 wonderful years of marriage. He embraced Gloria's daughter, Kim, as his own and was proud to call her family. Paul and Gloria enjoyed fishing trips to Rockport, Sundays at church with dear friends, and making cherished memories with both children and grandchildren.

Paul had a sharp wit and an incredible sense of humor that could catch you off guard in the best way. Quiet by nature, he had a steady presence and a contagious laugh that filled any room. Above all, he loved being "Papaw" to his grandchildren—Janet, Brandon, Michelle, Amber, Sophia, and Trey—and his great-grandchildren: Emmi, Colby, Lainey, Hayden, Jaxen, Marley, and Claire. His family was his greatest joy, and he treasured every moment spent telling stories, teasing the grandkids, and teaching them to cheer on the Steelers.

Funeral Services will be held at Klein Funeral Home ~ Magnolia, on Wednesday May 27 at 10am.  Following the service, Paul will be interred at the Houston National Cemetery on Veterans Memorial Drive in Houston.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Tosha who was Paul's caregiver during the final year of his life.

Paul will be remembered for his love of the outdoors, and the quiet, steady way he showed up for those he loved. His legacy lives on in the stories shared around fishing poles, family dinners, and football games. He will be deeply missed and forever loved.
