On Sunday, April 17, 2022, we lost our father, our son, our friend and our colleague, Paul Andrew Schumann. He was 56 years old. While his death was violent and tragic, Paul has found the peace and freedom from the wiles of his beautiful mind. Paul is now safe in the arms of his beloved uncle, Mark Hennen.

Paul is the son of Larry and Maurene Schumann and the brother of Laree Depies (Schumann). He grew up in West Branch, Michigan where he made lifelong friends. It was there his love for basketball was formed and remained strong until the end of his life. He graduated in 1987 from Michigan Tech University with a BS in Mechanical Engineering. Paul was recruited in his final year of college at MTU to join the DOE's Naval Reactor Program. After attending the Officer's Indoctrination training in Newport, RI, he moved to Washington, DC, where served five years in this highly elite class of servicemen and resigned as a Navy Lieutenant in Sept. 1991.

He met his wife Jenny (Eaton) in DC and they moved together to Salt Lake City, Utah where they were married in 1994. As an engineer for Sorex Medical he earned a patent for one of his medical products. Paul continued his education earning an MBA from the University of Utah in 1996.

In July 1996 the couple's first child, Claire Mae Schumann was born and 18 months later in January 1998, William Potter Schumann joined the family.

In 2002 the foursome made the trek to Houston, Texas. Paul and Jenny watched and supported the growth and development of their two children. A natural athlete himself, Paul loved to watch his kids play and excel at any sport that interested them (basketball, soccer, hockey, swimming, baseball, snow skiing, water skiing, snowboarding). Both kids love soccer – Paul loves soccer. Will wanted to snowboard, Paul learned to snowboard. Claire wanted to play basketball, Paul became her coach.

Paul also loved to work! He started his career in Oil & Gas career with Schlumberger where he formed some great relationships, he worked briefly at Nabors and most recently Technical Toolbox. Paul had a brilliant mind and was excited about intellectual pursuits.

But he also knew how to have fun. Paul's love for the water was bar none. He grew up on Peach Lake in Michigan and if there is one place he would love to be is on the water. He always said, "Your worst day on the water is better than your best day at work."

Paul always understood the misunderstood. So in lieu of flowers, the family asks you to please open your heart and accept and love those who are most in need.
