Paul Phoutha Phothisane of Houston, TX died September 14, 2024, after a short-lived stroke on September 9, 2024. He was ill for 5 years prior to his death. He was born on January 1, 1943, in Laos to Bounma and Thitha Phothisane.

Phoutha worked at Air American and drove high rank government officials in Laos. Phoutha's incredible journey began when he crossed the Mekong River to escape communism. His entire family became refugees in Thailand and Philippines.

In 1981, Phoutha and his family arrived in Houston, TX. In1983, his wife was pregnant with a baby boy. Life's storms were also at the peak as his wife was also sick with pneumonia and Hurricane Alisha flooded apartment and were no electricity. Starting a new life in the US with no English was not easy. Phoutha and his family lived many years at Counter Point and Johanna Apartments, before moving to a mobile home, in northwest Houston. Phoutha worked long hours and odd jobs to make ends meet. He worked hard to provide food for six children and a niece that came to live with them.

He sent his kids to church to get free food and clothing. Phoutha had no interest in attending church. He was a very strong Buddhist. Buddhist was always #1. He would hide behind the sofa when the church people would visit. Rob Chaney, Linda Thoi, Joyce Parker and several other apartment missionaries were so kind to him and his family. He wanted to know what they had that he did not. Phoutha started reading the bible and that changed everything. He discovered that Jesus is the son of God. He surrendered his life to follow him. Pastor Bayluangrath discipled Phoutha and help prepare his journey in ministry. He committed his life to sharing the good news to the Lao people. His kindness and good heart touched many lives.

Pastor Paul served at First Baptist Lao Mission as volunteered pastor for 24 years. He baptized his sons and daughters at Westview Mission Center. His children were married there as well. Pastor Phoutha was a very humble and selfless man. He committed his life to sharing the gospel to the Lao people in Houston, TX. His kindness and good heart touched many lives.

September is his favorite month. It's that time of the year where he gets to renew his fishing license. He and his wife Ny would enjoy fishing at Sea Wolfe Park in Galveston, Island. They fish for sand trout. His wife still makes the best Sand trout jerky in town. Dad loves Vietnamese Pho and Chinese buffets. His guilty pleasure is BBQ. And BBQ was his last solid meal on Sept. 8, 2024.

Paul is survived by his lovely wife Ny Phothisane and six children Novenela Khaomongkhol, Vongprachanh Phothisane, Khanthaly Phouangaphayvong, Vilavanh Phothisane, Chanthaboune Phothisane, Andy Phothisane, and adopted niece Dena McAnally. He is loved by his grandchildren Josh Phothisane, Timothy Khaomongkhol, Mia Taing, Kaylee Phothisane, Allison Phothisane, James Phothisane, Titus Phothisane, Luke Phouangphayvong and Jacob McAnally.

He is survived by his stepmother Tha Phothisane in Fresno, CA. Younger brothers Phanmaha Phothisane, Vanthana Potesan, Boulapha Phothisane, Toy Dragon Inthavong and younger sisters Nang Phothisane, Tanh Phothisane, Le Phothisane, and La Phothisane and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceased by his mother, Bounma, Father Thitha Phothisane, younger brother Kham Phothisane, Phyla Phothisane, Amkha Phothisane, Chanh Phothisane and younger sister Champa Phothisane
