Paul was born in New York and spent most of his youth there. As a young man, he loved fishing and visiting his grandfather in Connecticut. He started his career with Pacific Bell as he attended Nassau County College, where he got his associates degree. Continuing his career with Southwestern Bell/ATT as an engineer until he retired in 2001.
