Patricia Sutherland's Obituary
Patricia Karen Sutherland, 77, passed away on Friday, February 24, 2017 in Mesa, Arizona after complications from surgery. She was born May 17th, 1939 at her family home in the small town of Byers, Kansas to her father, Vernon Lee Tompkins and mother, Juanita Maxine Cole-Fellers. During her youth, Patricia "Pat" Sutherland and her family lived on several farms in the Southwestern area of Kansas. During her teenage years, the family lived and worked on a small farm west of Ulysses, Kansas and attended school at Grant County Rural High School. She learned to play musical instruments such as clarinet and piano and developed a sensational voice while singing hymns at the local church. She was the 1957 Grant County Rural High School football queen and met her future husband, Larry Dean Sutherland her junior year in high school. After Patricia and Larry were married on August 15, 1958, she and Larry moved to Golden, Colorado where her two sons Doug and Russell were born. The family later moved to Cypress, Texas in 1971 where Patricia became skilled practitioner in the 5000 year old art of Acupressure therapy which she enjoyed for many years. Years later, Patricia and the Sutherland family purchased acreage in Montgomery County where they built their own home, enjoying years of peaceful county living before retiring to Mesa, Arizona in 2015.
At a very early age, Patricia became a very giving person and was involved in a life-long relationship with The Lord Jesus Christ which embraced her character with an immeasurable amount of love and respect for others.
Patricia is preceded in death by her parents Vernon Tompkins and Maxine Tompkins-Fellers, son Douglas Sutherland and sister Roberta Walters & Brother-in-Law Darrell Walters of Oceanside, California. She is survivied by her husband Larry Sutherland of Mesa, Arizona, son Russell Sutherland of Cypress, TX, sister Joyce & Ed Smith of Oceanside, California, uncle Jack Cole of Salina, Kansas, nephews Rusty Siebert of San Diego, California, Dan Walters of San Diego, California, Neices Tricia Walters-Turner of El Cajon, California and Denise Siebert of Colorado as well as many loving friends.
A visitation will be held at Klein Funeral Home Chapel, 1400 West Main St. Tomball, TX. on Friday, March 10, 2017, from 1:00 PM-2:00 PM followed by a Memorial Service conducted by Pastor Stanley Smith of Bethel Northwest Fellowship, 2:00 PM at Klein Funeral Home Chapel, 1400 West Maint St. Tomball, TX. Interment services will follow immediately afterward at Klein Memorial Park Cemetery,
