Patricia Harwood Klug

Patricia (Pat) was born on December 4, 1930 in Tampa, Florida. She is a graduate of Plant High School (Tampa) and graduated from Florida Southern University (Lakeland, FL) in 1953. She participated in many clubs and sports in both high school and college including the drama club, writing for the school paper, equestrian, and was a cockswain on the rowing team! She was a member of Alpha Chi Omega. In high school, she was selected as Most Athletic her Senior year.

Pat met John Klug on a blind date, and they married July 6, 1957, after he graduated from college.

Pat taught 2nd and 4th grade at Ballast Point Elementary school in Tampa. Pat retired from teaching in 1960 to raise her children. Together, John and Pat had 4 children. John's work had them living in Arizona, Florida, and finally moving to Texas in 1969.

Pat was a very busy homemaker, and among other things, she was "Mom's Taxi service" (driving the 4 kids to all their various activities), Brownie leader, Gymnastics judge, and Diving judge. Pat volunteered as an election judge for the Republican party in Jones Creek. In her later years, Pat was very active in the North Shore United Methodist church in Canyon Lake. She attended several bible studies, and also participated in the walk of Emaus.

Pat is preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, John. Her surviving family members are daughters Leigh Ann Klug and Laura Jane Klug, daughter Cathy and son-in-law, Kip Melancon, and grandsons Easton and Colton. Son Karl Klug and daughter-in-law, Leslie, and grandsons Karl II, Kaleb (and wife, Heather), and Karson, granddaughter Crystal and great-grandson, Charlie, who will be arriving next month.

Pat was preceded in death by her father, John Henry Harwood, her mother, Leona, and her older brother, Jack. Pat is survived by her twin brother, Alan Harwood, and his wife Elizabeth.

She also leaves behind her beloved companion, Harve Hagerty, and his son, John, who was her caretaker through the very end.
