On the morning of Sunday, May 15, 2022 one of God's good friends, Ernest Larry Edwards let go of his earthly life and stepped into a heavenly one. Larry was appropriately born on Thanksgiving day, November 27, 1952 in Houston, Texas to parents Sterling and Louise Edwards. Larry was preceded in death by his father, Sterling Edwards, and brothers Leslie and Bob Edwards.

Larry met his best friend and love of his life, Cherrie Edwards in their teen years, and they were married June 19, 1971 and enjoyed 50+ years of being one another's one and only. Larry cherished his family. He is survived by his wife, Cherrie, his mother, Louise Edwards, his sister, Donna Smith, his two beloved sons, Sterling and Aaron, daughter-in-law Jenna, his grandchildren Madison and grandson-in-law Braden, Edie, Nate, Emma, Sophie, Avery and Charlotte, his great grandsons Luke and Ezra, and numerous cousins and extended family. Family was central to Larry and Cherrie, who created so many wonderful memories including vacations, holidays, family dinners, game nights, fishing contests at the back pond, attending various school events and of course quite a few Astros baseball games.

Above all, Larry was God's friend, companion, and faithful servant.  Larry was able to conduct a lot of love through his 50+ years of ministry, imparting light, hope, and blessing to countless individuals, marriages, families and communities in the greater Houston area. Larry, with his kind and hospitable heart, became a somebody to those who had nobody. People who were down and out, people who needed another chance. He led by example and lived a life worthy of honor and respect, and to that he would unquestionably say in his soft southern way: "to God be the glory." If you were fortunate enough to be led to Pastor Larry, you were blessed with a deep listening friend who would walk the long road with you. While our spirits know that Larry is experiencing the most celebratory of entrances in heavenly spaces, he will be deeply missed.

Pastor Larry, we believe you can feel how much we love and adore you. We celebrate that you left this world better than you found it. We are grateful you are experiencing wholeness and Jesus, and are face to face with the God who was always by your side. We are grateful for the beautiful people you created, and we want you to know that we take your love with us everywhere we go.

The love you shared will live on.
