Pamela Ann McCormack, 77, passed peacefully from this life on December 24, 2023 in Spring, TX. She was born March 24, 1946 to Francis and Lorraine Zwierlein in Bridgeport, Connecticut.
She lived in Bridgeport for her entire early life and graduated from Notre Dame High School in Fairfield, Connecticut in 1964. She worked for the City of Bridgeport from 1964 to 1972 as a stenographer. In 1974 and 1976 she and her former husband Jack McCormack became parents to their two children: Jill Kristin, in Bridgeport, and Michael John, in Stuart, Florida. The family moved to Houston, Texas in 1977, where she spent the rest of her days. In the late 70s and early 80s she taught preschool in the northwest Houston area and then moved to Cypress Fairbanks Independent School District where she served in various capacities before settling into the Special Education department, where she worked until she retired in 2013. She made many lifelong friends in her roles with the school district, where she was seen as the database guru who could talk anyone through frustrating computer software issues, but also as the office therapist, and her coworkers would often stop by her office just to chat.
Pam was known as a kind, artistic, free-spirited, and spiritual woman who was always ready to help. Her favorite creative activities included drawing, painting, tatting, crocheting, and knitting. Most people who knew her were gifted something she created, probably more than once. While visiting Michael in Santa Fe, New Mexico, she fell in love with the "Land of Enchantment".  She enjoyed time in Taos and hiked in the foothills of Santa Fe.  She loved Native American culture and kept a special place in her heart for New Mexico that showed in her home decor.  She loved to watch movies and TV shows about aliens, especially "ET", "Close Encounters of the Third Kind", and "Ancient Aliens", but she was also a sucker for a good romance, like "An Affair to Remember" or "Somewhere in Time". She was an unlikely fan of Jon Bon Jovi from the "Slippery When Wet" era. She got to see him in concert at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo in 2003, and she was standing up and singing at the top of her lungs with everyone else during "You Give Love a Bad Name" and "Livin' on a Prayer" - a true bucket list moment for her. Other favorite artists included Barry Manilow, Kenny Rogers, and Neil Diamond. Jill and Michael have childhood memories of her playing her guitar while singing their songs. She loved hot air balloons, wind chimes, butterflies, Tex-Mex food, and a well-stocked bar.
Once her first grandchild, Ashley, was born in 2004, she fully embraced the role of grandmother. Ashley, and later Joel, born in 2008, spent lots of time with her, and then when she retired in 2013 she was with them daily, helping before and after school. Their memories with her include sleepovers, trips to Galveston, and her famously sculpting an entire tabletop diorama of the story "The Three Little Pigs" out of clay when she stayed with Jill's family during Hurricane Ike and the ensuing power outages, just before Joel was born. The longstanding joke around that was four-year-old Ashley asking her to craft a dresser out of the clay with functioning drawers. That was where Nanny had to draw the line, though she did make a tiny clay dresser and drew floral designs on it with a toothpick. Some of Joel's favorite memories include confetti egg fights every Easter. She always let him cover her with confetti, and she gave it right back to him as good as she got. She was always up for a lightsaber battle during Joel's Star Wars days, and tried her best to play video games with him, much to his amusement.
Pam also acquired two "bonus" granddaughters in Raquel and Taylor. She and Raquel shared a love of drawing.  Both Taylor and Raquel had many heartfelt talks with her during their time together. They remember countless family parties around her dining table, which she had of course painted in a Santa Fe theme.
Those left to cherish memories with her include daughter Jill Thompson and husband Ryan and grandchildren Ashley and Joel, son Michael McCormack and wife Suzana, grandchildren Taylor Sandstrom, Raquel MacMahon and husband Michael, great grandchildren Lilith and Cyrus, former husband Jack McCormack, siblings Debbie DiIulio, Fran Zwierlein and wife Sally, Kevin Zwierlein, and Kim Krueger and husband Mark, as well as several nieces and nephews and their families. She will be fondly remembered by everyone who crossed her path during her days with CFISD.
She was preceded in death by her parents in 1997 and 1998.
