Ormond Gene King (O.G.), of Houston, Texas, was born on August 22, 1936, and passed away on April 20, 2019.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Mittie King; brother Clarence King and sister Glenda Merritt and his great-granddaughter, Madison Paige Staats.

Ormond is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Dixie Yancey King; his daughter, Kim Grein; his son, Dewayne King and wife Vicki; grandchildren, James Bradley Grein and wife Kristen, Kellie Staats and husband James, Jessica Renee Butler, Katelyn Nicole King, and Michael Wade King; and great-grandchildren, Jackson James Staats, Brooklyn Paige Staats, Madison Paige Staats, Riley Paige Butler, and one more on the way.

Ormond was an active member of Colonial Hills Bible Chapel in Houston Texas. He joined the Houston Police Department on September 8, 1958, Academy Class #19. During his career with the department he was assigned to the Patrol Bureau, the Vice Division, and Robbery Division, retiring on August 30, 1983. September 1, 1983 he joined the Harris County District Attorney's Office as an investigator and retired after 14 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and time with his family.

O.G's family will receive friends and loved ones at a visitation from 5-8 pm on Tuesday, April 23, 2019 at Klein Funeral Home, 9719 Wortham Blvd., Houston, TX 77065. A funeral service for O.G. will be held at 2pm on Wednesday, April 24, 2019 at Klein Funeral home, followed by burial in Memorial Oaks Cemetery.
